Weekend Workshop: Oil Painting in the Studio
April 6, 2018 - April 7, 2018
Friday and Saturday, April 6, 7, 10:00am-4:00pm
All levels
Instructor: Rodgers Naylor
Course description: This workshop is for all levels and will cover all elements of painting with a particular emphasis on composition, as this is often what determines the success of the painting. This means that we will focus intently on the beginning stages of the painting, though we will carry paintings forward to completion. This is a studio class so we will not worry about the weather. Students may work from photo reference material or from still life set-ups that they bring. There will be a short presentation and demo by the instructor, but most of the time will be devoted to painting, with plenty of one-on-one instruction. In the afternoon of the 2nd day we will also tackle the question of how to bring life to those not-quite-good paintings we all have in corners of our studios. Students will be encouraged to experiment, take risks and enjoy the painting experience.
