The Brush and Beyond
About the Instructor
The beautiful, cold, and remote shores of Lake Superior became home to Mary Ann Beckwith in 1970 and remain her home to this day. She raised her family there and found a wealth of inspiration for her painting and creative explorations in her surroundings.
In 1973, she was hired as an Instructor of Art at Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan. Over the years, she was promoted until she achieved the ultimate rank of Full Professor. While teaching classes in Painting, Drawing, and Design, she twice won the Distinguished Teaching Award and was inducted into the Academy of Teaching Excellence at MTU. During that time, developing the artistic skills for talented and gifted students was her passion: as it still is today. She presently holds the title of Professor Emeritus.
The author of Creative Watercolor: A Step-by-Step Guide and Showcase, her work has been featured in many books and her magazine credits include a feature article in International Artist Magazine, along with many other articles on her life and work in many other publications.
