Exploring Textures on Tiles and Trivets

This tile, trivet and texturing workshop is an opportunity to make an assortment of tiles for wall décor and or trivets. We will focus on texturing your pieces with all kinds of materials…wire mesh, shells, fabric and carving. We will be unglazing these pieces and carving thru them and adding glaze over top.

About the Instructor
Sunny Monaco received her BFA from the University of Colorado at Boulder, which included an exchange program in Ceramics at Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, and a MA from University of Colorado at Denver. Currently she is a studio artist in Boulder, Colorado and a part-time Art teacher. Sunny’s work has been shown at the BMOCA gallery in Boulder, Roshanda Art gallery in Niwot, Anna Leonowens Gallery in Halifax, NS Nova Scotia Museum of Fine Art in Halifax, NS, Sibelle Wolle Art Gallery at the University of Colorado, and Abanakee Art Studios in Indian Lake, NY. She is currently a member of the Foothills Art Center in Golden, CO and the Evergreen Center for the Arts. Her collaborative artwork, Stella Riga Designs, can be found in shops and galleries in Denver, Evergreen, Boulder, Buena Vista, Winter Park, Golden, Tabernash, Fraser, Glen Haven, Fort Collins, Aspen and Indian Lake, NY.

Wednesdays & Thursdays

January 9th- 1 to 4pm demo of tile, trivets and texturing and make pieces

January 10th – 1 to 4pm make more tiles and detailing underglaze /carving

January 16th – 1 to 4pm Final cleanup of pieces and prep to dry

January 23rd- 1 to 4pm Glaze pieces

January 24th- 1 to 4pm Finish glazing and load/fire kiln

January 30th-  1 to 4pm Critique cookies, tea and coffee
