Class Description

September 25, 26, October 9, 10

All levels
Instructor: Sunny Monaco
The first two weeks of this class will be dedicated to learning several techniques of hand building (pinch, slump mold, coil and slab) and wheel throwing plates & platters. The second two weeks will be focused on surface treatment and how to decorate with carving, slip and glazes. The critique potluck dinner we will discuss a date and time in class to enjoy pasta on our new pieces.
NOTE:  Our Ceramics studio is located in the basement of our old building, the Miller House, which is located right next to Buchanan Rec Center.
Tuesdays & Wednesdays
September 25th – 1-4pm Demo and make pieces
September 26th – 1-4pm finish and trim pieces
October 2nd or 3rd fire bisque kiln no class
October 9th – 1-4pm glaze pieces
October 10th- 1-4pm glaze pieces
Critique with Italian themed potluck TBA

About the Instructor
Sunny Monaco received her BFA from the University of Colorado at Boulder, which included an exchange program in Ceramics at Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, and a MA from University of Colorado at Denver. Currently she is a studio artist in Boulder, Colorado and a part-time Art teacher. Sunny’s work has been shown at the BMOCA gallery in Boulder, Roshanda Art gallery in Niwot, Anna Leonowens Gallery in Halifax, NS Nova Scotia Museum of Fine Art in Halifax, NS, Sibelle Wolle Art Gallery at the University of Colorado, and Abanakee Art Studios in Indian Lake, NY. She is currently a member of the Foothills Art Center in Golden, CO and the Evergreen Center for the Arts. Her collaborative artwork, Stella Riga Designs, can be found in shops and galleries in Denver, Evergreen, Boulder, Buena Vista, Winter Park, Golden, Tabernash, Fraser, Glen Haven, Fort Collins, Aspen and Indian Lake, NY.
