In this Introduction to Ceramics class, students will learn the basics of hand-building and wheel-throwing! The first 2 days of this 5-week class we will be learning the techniques of hand-building (pinch, coil, and slab) and wheel-throwing (basic forms tumblers or bowls). After our pieces are dried and bisque fired, we will be addressing the surface treatment and how to decorate these pieces with glazes.  All tools, materials, and firing are included.

• Day 1: Intro to Ceramics, hand-building demo, and designing/making pieces

• Day 2: Intro to Wheel throwing, demo, and hands-on

• Day 3: Finishing pieces, carving, and prepping for bisque – bisque fire

• Day 4: Intro to glazing, demo, load – glaze fire

• Day 5:  Studio clean up, unload kiln, class discussion and critique!
