Touch & Go: Texture & Movement in Art All-Call Exhibition
April 14 – May 20, 2023
The fundamental elements of composition guide creative decisions, and artists must coordinate between experimentation, intuition, and foresight. In Touch & Go, an open-call exhibition curated by guest juror Libby Garon of Walker Fine Art Gallery, we will be taking a closer look at two of those critical elements: texture and movement. By focusing on these details, we received a wide variety of works, ranging from 2D to 3D, and realism to abstraction. The resulting exhibit features 50 pieces selected out of 225 submissions from nearly 100 artists.
Guest Juror Libby Garon
We are honored to have Libby Garon, Gallery Director for Walker Fine Art, as this exhibition’s guest juror. Garon is active in the Denver arts community and focuses on making connections between artists and collectors, as well as having an ongoing involvement with Colorado’s arts organizations and galleries. She has juried shows like the All Colorado Art Show at Greenwood Village’s Curtis Center for the Arts.
Garon began her art path studying studio art with a focus in printmaking at Mount Holyoke College in MA and interning at Dieu Donne Paper Mill and Lower East Side Print Shop in New York, assisting artists including Kara Walker, Ann Hamilton and Ursula Von Rydingsvard. She has been in the Denver arts community for over a decade working and serving as a board member for institutions including Art Students League of Denver, Access Gallery, Golden Triangle Neighborhood Association, PlatteForum, Culture Haus, Denver Art Museum’s Conservation Committee and Museum Friends. As Denver continues to grow, Garon is an active arts advocate and strives to share her passion for the arts in everything that she does. She continues to make and sell her own work and appreciates having both perspectives of the artist and the arts professional.
