Register for ClassThis class will explore the fundamentals of painting with watercolor. Whether it is your first venture into this beautiful medium or you want to expand on what you know, we will explore basic techniques and aesthetics unique to watercolor paints. We will also cover composition, values, and color theory. This interactive class will include demonstrations with personalized instruction as you paint. We will begin painting from still life and organic objects that will be provided, expanding into painting from your own photo references. This class will set you up to be confident painting and exploring with watercolor, hopefully sparking a lifetime devotion to this ancient and variable medium.
Students provide their own supplies for this class. Recommended supply list is below:
Cold-pressed watercolor paper, any brand. Size 7″ x 10″ or 9″ x 12″ block (pad) I prefer Arches paper blocks.
Round Brushes – #4 or #6 Round and #8 or #10 Round – preferably sable.
Flat Brush – 1″-1.5″ flat brush and (optional) flat bristle brush.
Paint Palette – metal, ceramic, or plastic folding palette.
Watercolor paints (Your choice of brand – I prefer Winsor & Newton). Tubes are preferred, pans are also fine.
