Love Is… Exhibition Opening Reception
July 9, 2021 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Opening July 9 and on display through August 7, Center for the Arts Evergreen’s next art exhibition, entitled Love Is…, will present works inspired by the thematic title from a diverse group of local Colorado artists with equally diverse interpretations. The exhibition will launch with a truly unique opening reception, free to the public from 4 pm to 7 pm on July 9. Featuring a live Argentine tango performance by Denver’s Parasol Arts, and followed by a community Milonga, or gathering of practicing tango dancers, the reception is sure to delight even the non-traditional exhibition goer. Awards at this juried exhibit will be announced at 6 pm, both live and on Zoom. Enjoy a glass of wine, experience the sights and sounds of love’s quintessential dance form, and appreciate your fellow Coloradan’s visual art expressions of what, exactly, love is.
As human beings, love is one of our most precious things. In the wake of a global pandemic, love has become even more valuable, as it gives us focus, purpose, and hope. Love Is… celebrates love in all its forms: romantic love, love of nature, love of family, love of self. The exhibition’s guest juror, Teresa Anne Volgenau, is a classically-trained dancer and visual artist with a representational style that captures the passion and love of the world around her. For Love Is…, Teresa has selected 50 works by Colorado artists depicting love in its many manifestations. Teresa’s own work reflects her experience in dance, love of romantic gestures, and a poetic connection to the metaphysics, and three of her original pieces will be part of the exhibition. Come experience Love Is… presented through the lens of something we all love…art.

ABOUT TERESA ANNE VOLGENAU
Teresa Anne Volgenau, a Colorado native, has always been an artist. Her extensive and diverse career in the performing arts has spanned over 25 years and taken her from California to New York City and through Europe and South America. Teresa is known best as a dancer/performer, instructor for The Joffrey Ballet, and she has worked extensively as a choreographer and actress. Since her youth, Teresa has been inspired by fine art and had a talent for drawing. Over the years, she found herself carrying a sketch pad wherever she went, be it on the subway, the coffee shop, or in-between performances, she was always creating. By 2016 Teresa felt it was time to switch gears from her life as a performer to pursue her passion and desire as a visual artist. Working in acrylics and inks, preferring clean lines and shapes, pressing boundaries with color and skin tones, and aggressive with intricate details, she has developed a unique representational style that reflects her experience in dance, love of romantic gestures, as well as a poetic connection to the metaphysics. She welcomes you to indulge in slices of her history, passionate wanderings, and her unwavering commitment to create. https://www.tavolgenau.com
