The Final Touches on Your Memoir
Class Description: Memoir Writing III digs in to the final touches on your Memoir. You will spend the six Friday sessions honing your craft and making your memoir shine. Memoirs are written to be read. In order to write interesting memoirs, the class will approach it as creative writing, not just informational or explanatory writing. You will learn techniques to enliven the information you want to convey. We will practice some writing skills in class and reinforce the lesson with small homework assignments. The course will concentrate on Language, Clarity, Imagery, Characterization, Dialogue, Detail, Contrast, Tone, Accuracy, Theme, Point-of-view. It is a fun class, sometimes life-changing. You have a story and the main character is you. Your journey through life is valuable and worth preserving. Your thoughts and experiences are treasures. Pre-requisite for this class is Memoir I OR Memoir II OR any class you’ve taken with Carolyn at any time.
