Gary Sohrweid was born and raised in rural Nebraska. He moved to Evergreen, Colorado, and taught art at Evergreen High School and Wilmot Elementary School. Gary has a Master of Arts degree from the University of Northern Colorado. His art studies have taken him to Florence, Italy, Kansas City Art Institute, Acapulco, Mexico, and Center for the Arts Evergreen.
My approach to applying paint on the canvas has evolved from photorealism to impressionism. Being able to simplify the images creates an emotional impact for the viewer. The artist-creator must develop the skill of looking at something and seeing something else.
