ARTFUL PAIRINGS CULINARY SERIES: Shochu – A Taste of Izakaya

Join us on Friday, October 2 from 6–8 pm for the final tasting in the series, Shochu: A Taste of Izakaya.

Led by a spirits expert, this guided tasting will introduce you to the smooth, subtle flavors of shochu and how they pair with light, savory bites inspired by Japanese cuisine. Shochu (焼酎) is a traditional Japanese distilled spirit, lighter than whisky but stronger than sake, made from diverse ingredients like rice, barley, or sweet potato, fermented with koji mold, and typically enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or mixed with water (hot/cold) or soda (highball). You’ll sample three to four expressions, each matched with a complementary bite, and have time to mingle, compare notes, and enjoy a relaxed evening with friends.

It’s a unique and refreshing way to wrap up the tasting series — and a great chance to discover something new.
