Stories on the Surface showcases the work of six distinctive artists living and working in the Front Range. United by a style rich in texture, gesture, and color, these artists invite viewers into deeply personal and imaginative narratives that unfold across their work. Each piece acts as a window into a different story — some rooted in memory, others in myth, dream, or social commentary. While their approaches vary, all six artists share a commitment to storytelling, using visual language to explore identity, emotion, and the complexities of the human experience. Stories on the Surface fosters a dialogue between narrative fiction and the painted image. The result is a dynamic, emotionally resonant experience that speaks to the power of painting not just to depict, but to narrate.
