POP-UP EXHIBIT: inConsistent

inConsistent Pop-Up Exhibition
Exhibition Runs October 22 – October 25
Public Opening Reception Wednesday, October 22 from 4-7 pm
Artists are likely well-familiar with the phrase “consistent body of work”. It’s a term often standing as a gate-keeper to getting one’s artwork out in the world through exhibitions or art fairs. However, art is not just about consistency; it’s a personal journey full of growth and change that comes from trying new things and learning from experiences.
In this show, four unexpected friends share a look beyond the “consistent” into the fascinating evolution that occurs as an artist explores mediums, styles, techniques, follows passions, and grows over time – without the limitation of putting forward just the works that go together in a neat package.
This group of four different artists became friends while exploring their creative journeys and have been watching each other’s evolution for three years. They’re excited to share some of that journey with you.
Andi has been and still considers herself a mixed media artist (torn paper); however, more recently she has enjoyed a looser drawing style. In all honesty she has been through a pretty substantial artistic breakdown the last 18 months but still considers herself a voice in the western art community. (And yes- she still loves working on a good dog portrait).
Jane paints mainly in the pastel medium, reflecting her love of color, light, and the impressionistic style. She continues to work in this direction with pastels, but branching out to the oil medium as well. Exploring the use of oils and pastels in a more abstract way is her current creative adventure.
Lynn is a mixed media artist who has wandered in and out of drawing, painting, and sculpture for over 60 years. With her large shaped paintings on paper she removes the format component of the art work freeing the media and image from the objecthood of “the painting “ and throwing the frame OUT THE WINDOW. (Title of the installation).
Rachael paints modern impressionistic landscapes and is excited to showcase her vibrant work. Her pieces are lively with color and unique uses of lines, contrasts, and (mostly) so.many.dots.
Join them in celebrating the journey of artistic growth, stepping away from the idea that artists must only show a cohesive set of works.
