SPEND SUMMER IN COLOR AT CAE!
Give your young artists an immersive and hands-on experience with Summer Art Camps at Center for the Arts Evergreen (CAE). CAE offers half-day camps and lunch studios for kids aged 5-17, running from June 3 through August 9. Campers come to us from Evergreen, Conifer, Morrison and Golden, as well as from down the hill in the Denver metro area, because our vetted instructors are just so awesome at what they do. Our camps explore various media, from clay sculpting and drawing techniques, to pop art and mural painting, to the art of different cultures and the art of the masters. Several of our camps also incorporate outdoor components, including hikes, plein air painting, and opportunities for photography and eco-art projects. – All camps are half-day (3 hours), with AM sessions running 9 am to 12 pm, and PM sessions running 1 pm to 4 pm.
– All campers should bring a water bottle and snack daily, and campers registered for a lunch studio should also bring a sack lunch.
– All camps may go outside, weather permitting, so it is advised that sunscreen is applied each day before coming to camp.
– All camps are $225. Save 10% with a CAE Family Membership.
– 1 hour supervised lunch studio is available for $25 per week to extend your camp experience.
– All supplies are included unless otherwise noted.
– Ceramics camp sessions are either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday and run for 2 consecutive weeks (4 half-days total). This is to allow sufficient time for every step of the finishing process, both during and outside of camp hours.
– Ceramics camp fees cover materials, supplies, additional tech hours, kiln firings, and maintenance of the ceramics studio.
– Before April 15: Full cash refund minus $25 cancellation fee per camp.
– April 16th to May 1st: Full refund in educational credit only.
– No refunds will be offered after May 1st.
NEW FOR 2024 - LUNCH STUDIOS!
Would you like to extend your camper’s experience before or after camp during the lunch hour? Or are you signing up for an AM and a PM camp in the same week and want full-day coverage? This year we are offering a supervised Lunch Studio from 12 – 1 pm for just $25 per week! Camp assistants will oversee lunch and (weather-permitting) outdoor activity, guiding them to and from their camps. Lunch Studios are a la carte – please register for each week your student will be staying for lunch by clicking the button below.

Step right up and bring your talented artists to this carnival themed art camp! We will be bringing to the table various art projects inspired by classic carnivals using both 2- and 3-dimensional techniques. Students will create cut paper and mixed media Ferris wheels or carousels, carnival masks, and non-edible popcorn sculptures, and will culminate in our very own carnival celebration on the last day of camp where we will play carnival games created by small groups of students and enjoy some tasty carnival treats. sessions available. Come escape to the stars in this camp where all our art will be out of this world. Your artists will be guided on a journey through space using a variety of mixed media to create galaxies, aliens, and more! We will utilize both 2- and 3-dimensional art techniques, expanding understanding and skills through papier mâché, acrylic paints, watercolor, and more. Two unique sessions available!

Set your mind free with Abstract Art! Students will learn about the different types of abstraction from non-representational to pointillism. We will learn about well-known artists from multiple movements within abstraction, try different styles, play with color, techniques and mediums!

My favorite color is rainbow! If you’ve heard this from your kiddos, this is the camp for them! In this afternoon camp, students will learn all about the color wheel and different ways to use color to enhance their art. Complementary, monochromatic, warm and cool, and unique ways to use color in your projects are just some of the topics we’ll cover in this celebration of color! Through these techniques and skills, students will learn to level-up their artwork and appreciation of color using multiple mediums!

Come and learn about the famous artists of the world and explore new art processes and techniques! Projects may include swirling paint like van Gogh, painting to music like Kandinsky, creating fun Cubist-style faces out of paint and clay like Picasso or making art using lots of dots like Monet. We will use many different types of materials to explore these topics, including air dry clay, model magic, a variety of paint, collage and more! Kids will have a lot of fun in this class while learning art history and different creative expressions.

In this camp students will learn to bead and stamp leather jewelry, create landscapes from yarn and fabric, and use dying and wax techniques for batiks! Join us in making crafts out of textiles!

Let’s play some games! Doodle, exquisite corpse, blind draw, and more! In this afternoon camp, students will have a blast playing games with art outside and indoors. We will use a variety of art materials including clay, acrylic paint, oil pastels, watercolor, collage and sculpture. This outdoor camp is set in the woods of Bergen Park. Our outdoor expert instructors will guide students through the sights, sounds, smells, and feelings of the outdoors to create nature-inspired art! Students will learn Leave No Trace (LNT) principles while exploring the nature at their feet. Projects may include rock painting, scratch art, nature crowns, mobiles, suncatchers, and sun paper flower prints. This camp is primarily outdoors, weather permitting.

Two worlds collide in this musical art camp! Discover what happens when music inspires art in this fun camp focused on creating projects inspired by various instruments, music genres, and art styles. Each project will incorporate different art techniques such as sculpture, watercolor, and acrylic. We will explore various music genres and art styles that may have influenced the artwork for the day throughout the course, sending your artists home armed with newfound knowledge of the art and music world. Texture & Tiles is a hands-on pottery class tailored for ages 5-9, where young artists explore clay's possibilities. Relief (also known as Block) printmaking skills and techniques are the focus of this awesome class for youth ages 9-13. Linoleum carving can be incredibly relaxing and produce even more incredible art pieces! Basic techniques will be introduced, so your child does not need to have any previous experience with this medium. The rest of the camp will set your budding artists free to create their own relief carving at their own pace. Students will also explore monoprinting with Gelli plates, Andy Warhol pop art, cityscape collaborative printmaking, fish printing and more and will learn to operate a genuine 1968 printing press! This class is sure to im-"press" your budding artists with a whole new realm of art-making!

Teen Wheel Throwing offers a hands-on experience for students aged 13 and up to learn and refine their wheel-throwing techniques. We're looking for teenage/ high school artists to paint a public mural! For this mural project, Center for the Arts Evergreen is partnering with Alexandrea Pangburn, muralist and founder of Babe Walls, to bring colorful artwork to the town of Evergreen. Students will be a part of the concept, planning, and learn how to install a mural from beginning to end and learn mural painting techniques including spray painting skills!
Alexandrea Pangburn is a large scale muralist and animal realism artist currently based in Golden, Colorado. Originally from Lexington, Kentucky and University of Kentucky alumni (GO BIG BLUE) - Alex moved to Colorado in 2017 where she was able to fully immerse herself in her inspiration of the west. Her work brings the beauty of wild to a large scale and her composition helps tie both land and animal together.
Inspired by nature - her realistic style focuses on expressing the details of plants, birds, and animals to bring light to the recognizable physical traits. Her hope is to bring awareness to the local flora and fauna so that we may understand and better educate ourselves on how we can conserve these species.
Alex is also the Executive Director of Babe Walls - her passion project that supports women and non-binary artists in the world of street art.
This is a rain or shine outdoor camp. Shade tents will be provided. All levels welcome. All supplies are provided. Please wear weather appropriate painting clothes and shoes! Please bring water, sack lunch, sunscreen, hats, and snacks and be prepared to be outside all day!

Throw your previous ideas of a still life out the window! In this art class, we will take students on an adventure through the world of still-life art, exploring the genre in a non-traditional way using both 2- and 3-dimensional art techniques. Students will create temporary nature inspired still-lives, a la Andy Goldsworthy; sculpt a self-portrait using nothing but fruits and vegetables, influenced by Giuseppe Arcimboldo; and discover what O’Keefe brought to the genre.
