The Evergreen Keeper – Teen Sculpture Build

Dates: June 8 – 12  |  Pre-Camp Brainstorm Session: May 30
Time: 10 am – 4 pm (full day – bring a lunch)
Age Group: Teens (12-18 years)
Spaces Available: 15

Help build a larger-than-life creature for the CAE campus! Inspired by the monumental, nature-based sculptures of Thomas Dambo, teens will collaborate to design and construct a giant wood creature using reclaimed materials — from concept to final installation.

During a pre-camp brainstorming session on May 30, students will work together to design the creature’s personality, features, and story. When camp begins on June 8, teens will participate in the full build process, including cutting, sanding, cladding, and painting the sculpture. Students will also create a time capsule to be placed inside the creature’s body, leaving a hidden message for the future.

Teens will gain hands-on experience using real tools and power tools (with close adult supervision), while learning about collaboration, large-scale sculpture, problem-solving, and public art. This is an unforgettable opportunity to make something meaningful, lasting, and wildly cool.

This camp is primarily outdoors.  Shade will be provided but students should arrive prepared for outdoor time with appropriate layers, sunscreen applied, sun hat, sunglasses, water bottle, and snacks.
