CAE invites artists to submit work for Art on the Menu, an exhibition exploring food as both sustenance and symbol. Across cultures and communities, food carries meaning far beyond the plate—it is tied to memory, ritual, identity, and connection. From family recipes passed through generations to the shared experience of gathering around a table, food tells stories about who we are and how we live together.

This exhibit celebrates the tastes, traditions, and moments that shape our relationship with food. Artists are encouraged to interpret the theme broadly. Works might depict ingredients, meals, kitchens, markets, or gardens; explore cultural traditions and celebrations; reflect on personal memories tied to food; or consider food’s role in community, sustainability, and creativity. Everyday ingredients and shared meals can become powerful symbols and narratives through artistic expression.

The Rocky Mountain National Watermedia (RMNW) exhibition, in its 53rd year, is presented by Center for the Arts Evergreen (CAE) in Evergreen, Colorado. RMNW attracts entrants and jurors from throughout the United States and is regarded as one of the top watermedia exhibitions in the country. This show traditionally offers more than $10,000 in cash awards.

CAE is pleased to announce that internationally-acclaimed artist, Keiko Tanabe, will serve as the juror for the 53rd Rocky Mountain National Watermedia Exhibition.
