CAE SATELLITE GALLERIES

Center for the Arts Evergreen maintains partnerships with Ovation West, the Buchanan Recreation Center, and other local businesses and facilities to organize a rotation of mini art exhibitions at these locations. Artwork on display is almost always available for sale, supporting both local artists and programming at CAE. CENTER STAGE THEATRE

Center Stage is a historic theater that serves the mountain community with a performing arts venue, a visual arts gallery, and as a community gathering place. Center Stage is owned and operated by Ovation West Performing Arts.

Artist Statement: A Winged Chorus brings together paintings inspired by birds, movement, memory, and connection. A core part of the series is a collaboration with Siana Smith’s late grandfather’s Chinese ink paintings, creating a dialogue between generations, cultures, and artistic traditions through the integration of his brushwork with her contemporary acrylic paintings. Alongside these collaborative works are additional bird paintings inspired by Smith’s ongoing observation and photography of birds and other animals.

Artist Bio: Siana Smith is a San Francisco Bay Area visual artist whose oil paintings explore the intersection of consumerism, emotional attachment, and the complexities of our relationship with ourselves, each other and an everchanging natural world. Smith earned her MFA in Fine Arts from the California College of the Arts in 2021.

Smith's work has been exhibited nationally and internationally at institutions, including the De Young Museum, the New York Academy of Art, the London Biennale 2025, Triton Museum of Art, Euphrat Museum of Art, the Haggin Museum, NUMU, MONCA. A recipient of the California Arts Council Emerging Artist Fellowship (2023), Smith has been awarded multiple residencies across the United States and Italy. She also serves on the Saratoga Library and Public Art Commission, contributing to community-based art initiatives.

BUCHANAN REC CENTER

Buchanan Recreation Center offers open wall space on the main level of their building, providing excellent exposure to local artists producing 2-D work.

The Women’s Caucus for the Arts Colorado Chapter presents a powerful series of murals celebrating the enduring legacy of women artists across the state. This collection of 12 murals was created to highlight the significant contributions of Colorado women whose work has shaped the region’s cultural landscape. Seven of these murals are featured in this special presentation, offering a compelling glimpse into the broader series and the diverse voices it represents. Each mural serves not only as a tribute, but also as an invitation to learn, reflect, and connect with the histories and perspectives of Colorado’s women artists.

This display is presented in conjunction with Ecotones, the Women’s Caucus for Art exhibition on view at Center for the Arts Evergreen from April 30 through June 6. Ecotones explores water as both a physical presence and a symbolic force—an ever-shifting boundary that reflects themes of transition, connection, and transformation.
