Ceramic Layered Surfaces Workshop
Ceramic Layered Surfaces Workshop with Kate Ruygrok
Saturday, October 17
1:30 – 4:30 pm
Minimum Students: 3 | Maximum Students: 10
$67 CAE Member / $75 Non-Member
In this surface design-focused ceramics class, students will explore how to create rich, layered surfaces using a combination of additive and subtractive techniques. Through guided demonstrations and hands-on experimentation, participants will work with monoprint transfer, water etching, slip trailing, as well as Mishima and sgraffito to develop depth, texture, and visual interest.
Suitable for both beginners and experienced ceramicists, this course expands technical skills while encouraging creative exploration. Students will practice on provided clay tiles and class will include a demonstration on how to apply these techniques to a wheel-thrown cup. Participants are also encouraged to bring their own leather-hard vessels to work on during class.
Come ready to learn with clothes that can get messy, a small towel, and a notebook to take notes and sketch ideas.
