CAE SATELLITE GALLERIES

Center for the Arts Evergreen maintains partnerships with Ovation West, the Buchanan Recreation Center, and other local businesses and facilities to organize a rotation of mini art exhibitions at these locations. Artwork on display is almost always available for sale, supporting both local artists and programming at CAE. If you are interested in purchasing a piece you have seen in one of our satellite spaces, please get in touch with Chris Stevens, director of exhibitions, at chris@evergreenarts.org or 303.674.0052.

CENTER STAGE THEATRE

Center Stage is a historic theater that serves the mountain community with a performing arts venue, a visual arts gallery, and as a community gathering place. Center Stage is owned and operated by Ovation West Performing Arts.

After studying art and painting for four years at Central Michigan University, my artistic aspirations took a backseat to establishing a business career and raising a family. For the last ten years my passion for art and painting has been renewed. I've been fortunate to have studied under accomplished artists who have encouraged me to continue to pursue my painting in a more serious way. I have since recieved merit awards at professional art shows and have been invited to exhibit my works in public shows in Florida and Colorado. I have become active in organizations such as The Dunedin Fine Arts Center, PAVA (Professional Association of Visual Artists) and the Professional Acrylic Artist- USA. I sell my paintings and accept commission assignments.

Nature and the outdoors are often reflected in my paintings. I am an avid hiker and mountain climber. Fly fishing the many rivers and lakes throughout Colorado and kayaking the beautiful streams and marshes in Florida gives me the perfect opportunity to be part of the outdoors. With camera and sketch book in hand I am always searching for that scene or vista that evokes a feeling I want to share and remember. That wonder, that feeling of calm and contentment is what is so rewarding to capture on canvas.

BUCHANAN REC CENTER

Buchanan Recreation Center offers open wall space on the main level of their building, providing excellent exposure to local artists producing 2-D work.

Through the technique of gestural abstraction, Jessica Wright invites us into a world of enchantment: a world of forested landscapes that are sometimes burning and bright and other times shrouded in mist. Self-taught, Jess has been painting since the age 12. About four years ago she abandoned the brush—after more than 25 years of work—and hit upon a “throwing” technique that employs acrylics, chopsticks and, of late, her own hands. Her paintings come to life with color and texture—and an immediacy that produces an almost child-like state of wonder and awe in the viewer. Jess plays with the line between realistic and abstract art. Jess’s fans feel as if they have created another window in their home that looks out upon a scene that touches the heart and stirs the imagination. As she works to capture some of the most beautiful scenes the natural world has to offer, Jess is transported into a state of mindfulness. It is her greatest hope that her art, in turn, transports her viewers into a state of mindfulness and present moment awareness that fosters the intense appreciation for the natural world that she experiences. She exhibits her work across the Front Range through gallery exhibits, charitable events, live painting demonstrations and participation in a variety of art festivals including the Aspen Art Festival, the Vail Art Festival and others. Jess lives amid paints, drop cloths and canvases in the beautiful state of Colorado.
