Join artist Gail Wager for an energizing journey into the world of abstract painting. This six-week class is designed to help you loosen up, experiment freely, and discover what inspires you visually—whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned painter.
Through playful prompts, layered techniques, and guided exercises, you’ll explore acrylic paint and mixed media while developing a personal approach to color, composition, and creative expression. Learn how to build compelling abstract work through mark-making, texture, and color harmony—plus how to blend abstraction with hints of realism for dynamic results.
What to Expect:

- Create color harmony using a limited palette
- Explore shapes, marks, and color combinations you love
- Combine realism with abstraction in exciting ways
- Most of all—expect to play, explore, and have fun!
Recommended Supply List:
Please bring these materials with you to the first class:
- Sketchbook
- Watercolor paper (140 lb Arches) or canvas
- Acrylic paints (bring what you have or start with these):
- Cadmium Yellow Medium and Light
- Yellow Ochre
- Alizarin Crimson
- “Primary” Red
- French Ultramarine
- Thalo Blue
- Black and White
- Gloss or matte medium
- Gesso
- Palette and water container
- Inexpensive brushes
- Paper towels
- Sharpie pen, gel pens, pencils
- Oil pastels or crayons (optional but fun!)
