Creativity, Coffee & Conversation for Seniors

March 8 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Free

Join us March 8 from 1:30 to 3:30 pm for our monthly Creativity, Coffee & Conversation for mountain area seniors. Each month we offer the opportunity for artists, writers, and arts appreciators (aged 60 and better) to gather and find connection through art. The first portion of the afternoon is a tour with the curator, where you will learn about the current exhibit; stories behind pieces in the show, what it takes to find artists, and how an exhibition comes together. Then we enjoy coffee and cookies as we come together to create. We have multiple stations: one with an art project led by an artists or art teacher, one for writing, and one for simply chatting—the art of conversation. CCC is an opportunity to come together, make new friends, and learn something new. We are all at different stages of aging and we all handle it a little differently, but what we do know is that social interaction and community engagement keep us all a little healthier. This program takes place on the second Friday of every month. Please call click the button below to RSVP.

The Art of Living Creatively, Fri. March 8th from 1:30-3:30

Nicole Huggins is an artist who lives in Evergreen and painted throughout her life. Upon retiring from another career she decided to focus on painting with soft pastels, oils and other mediums. Her works reflect a European sensibility as well as Impressionist influences. She draws upon her memories, travels and the beauty of nature for inspiration. Nicole has contributed to several CAE exhibits. She is a Board member of the Pastel Society of Colorado, a member of the Pastel Society of America and of Today’s Impressionists, and she participates annually in the Artists of Evergreen Open Door Studio Tour. See www.ArtfulNicoleHugg.com.

Nicole’s presentation explores what is means to experience the world and live as a creative person. Some choose visual art, while others choose music, writing or gardening, etc. Whatever form it takes, creative people find outlets for their feelings, thoughts and perceptions through art. It’s a means of self-exploration as well as a means of communicating with others across boundaries of space and time. It is Nicole’s hope that this interactive presentation will encourage you to pursue your creativity.
