Are you interested in exploring the elements of art and various techniques? These workshops are a fantastic way to build or expand your artistic knowledge and skills.
Each session begins with an educational lesson and demonstrations, followed by hands-on time to experiment with what you’ve learned and apply it to your own artwork. You can take all of the workshops or just the ones that interest you.
I will provide materials for in-class experimentation, but I encourage you to bring a surface to work on and your preferred medium.
Workshop Topics:
- May 3: Line to Shape: Basic Drawing Techniques – Learn and practice sketching techniques with a focus on proportion and creating line drawings.
- May 17: Value and Form – Explore the basics of value, including shading, hues, tints, and contrast. Work with grayscale and color using various materials to test value in your work.
- May 24: Let’s Talk About Color – Dive into the Color Wheel! We’ll discuss primary, secondary, and tertiary colors, as well as warm, cool, and neutral tones, complementary colors, and hues/tints. Examine artworks that demonstrate these color schemes and engage in hands-on activities. Focus on analogous colors and monochromatic schemes, learning how they influence composition and mood.
- May 31: Texture in Art – Discover the role of texture in art and how to incorporate it into your work effectively.
