Dive deep into the world of acrylic painting with Jessica Mahan in this fun, immersive 4-week course designed for beginners or more experienced painters who want to pick up some extra techniques. From exploring various acrylic mediums to mastering color theory, composition, and mixed media techniques, this course will equip you with the skills and confidence to create stunning and dynamic artworks. Each week will build upon the previous one, allowing you to develop a well-rounded understanding of acrylics while experimenting with diverse techniques and materials.

Week 1: Composition Techniques, value and toning

Week 2: Introduction to Acrylic Paints, mediums and color theory fundamentals

Week 3: Exploring Mixed Media, Techniques and Acrylic Mediums

Week 4: Advanced Techniques and Final Project Critique

Additional Items Covered:

• Basic Acrylic Painting Tools: Brushes, palette knives, and surface preparation.
• Inspiration and Artistic Development: Finding inspiration, developing a personal style, and setting artistic goals.

Materials Provided:

• Acrylic paints in a range of colors.
• Various acrylic mediums and texture tools.
• Mixed media materials for experimentation (e.g., paper, fabric, found objects).
• Paper and painting surfaces (One 16×20” canvas provided)

• Personal art tools (if you have them) and any specific materials you wish to incorporate into your projects.

• I suggest these colors in warm/cool primaries: Cadmium yellow medium hue, primary yellow, quinacridone magenta, cadmium red medium hue, phthalocyanine blue, ultramarine blue, mars black, titanium white.
• Personal Sketchbooks (paper will be provided otherwise)
