Explore the world of pen and ink with color washes in this dynamic and flexible workshop, designed for artists of all levels. Whether you’re a beginner eager to learn or an experienced artist looking to refine your skills, this class offers a supportive, open studio environment where you can experiment, create, and receive personalized guidance.
Throughout the course, you’ll learn the basics of pen and ink techniques, how to layer and combine color with ink, and how to use these tools to bring your illustrations to life. From detailed line work to vibrant washes, we’ll explore various methods for incorporating color—whether with watercolors, colored pencils, or markers—into your inky creations.
While we will have some formal instruction, this is not a traditional class with rigid structure, but rather an open studio atmosphere where you can work at your own pace, experiment freely, and receive one-on-one guidance and feedback.
Students will have the opportunity to used shared supplies in class. If you would like to purchase your own supplies for use at home, here are Kelly’s recommendations:
- Micron Pen set of 6-8 in a variety of sizes
- Speedball hotpress watercolor paper – 9×12″
